Junisa Jones, a 27-year-old electrician, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Monday, July 21st, 2025, after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy and larceny.

The court was informed that Mr. Jones was involved in the theft of electrical cables valued at 30,000 New Leones.

Court records reveal that on March 5th, at #14 Dillett Street, Western Area, Mr. Jones conspired with others to commit larceny. On the same date and location, he was caught stealing a high-power electrical cable, which was subsequently recovered.

Upon the formal reading of the charges, Mr. Jones admitted his guilt. Prosecutor Sergeant Ballay T. informed the court that the accused had no prior criminal record. Mr. Jones, who was not represented by legal counsel, requested leniency from the court, highlighting his status as a first-time offender.

After considering the plea and mitigating factors, Magistrate John Manso Fornah, presiding over Pademba Road Court No. 2, sentenced Mr. Jones to 18 months at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The sentence is to be served in full, commencing immediately.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat theft and uphold justice within the community.
