Fibre Installer Remanded Over Alleged Shop Break-In

A 22-year-old fibre installer has been remanded in custody following his appearance in court on charges related to a high-value shop break-in at Thompson Bay.

The accused, Mohamed Jalloh, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1. He faces charges of shop breaking and larceny under Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Court details indicate that on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Jalloh allegedly broke into a commercial shop located at Long Bench Touch, off Wilkinson Road, with intent to steal.

The stolen merchandise, valued at Le77,880 and belonging to Aminata Kargbo, included two cartons of Bama mayonnaise, JPB mayonnaise, five cartons of Zuwan luncheon meat, a bundle of diapers, and various other goods.

No plea was entered during the initial proceeding, as the case is being processed through committal proceedings.

Prosecuting officer DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo confirmed that case and inquiry files were served to the defendant. Jalloh, who was unrepresented by legal counsel, acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Citing the severity of the alleged offense, Magistrate Jah denied bail and ordered Jalloh remanded to the Male Correctional Facility.

The court adjourned the matter to October 21, 2026, for further hearings.
