First Lady Applauds President Bio’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has praised the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, describing the country as a “shining example” of commitment to women’s employment and gender equality.

In a statement, the First Lady said Sierra Leone has made significant progress in expanding opportunities for women and girls under President Bio’s administration.

She attributed the gains to what she described as bold and transformative policies introduced by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP)-led government, noting that these measures have opened doors for women across various sectors.

According to her, the initiatives are not only improving access to employment opportunities but are also enhancing women’s participation in national development.

Fatima Maada Bio emphasised that promoting gender equality remains a national priority, adding that empowering women is essential to achieving inclusive growth and long-term progress.

Her remarks come amid continued efforts by the government to position women’s empowerment as a key pillar of Sierra Leone’s development agenda.
