A 33-year-old man, Vandy Amara, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of fraudulent conversion related to the theft of a motorbike. The case was finalized before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2.
The offense occurred on July 10, 2025, along Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown’s Western Area. According to the prosecution, Amara, who is unemployed, fraudulently converted a black Honda H.L.X motorcycle with registration number A.T.C 001, valued at Le 24,000, for his own use. The motorbike had been entrusted to him by Emmanuel Lahai for maintenance.
When the charge was read, Amara pleaded guilty. The prosecution, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, stated that they had closed their case, allowing the court to pass judgment.
Magistrate Fornah, noting that this was Amara's first offense and considering his plea for mercy, sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment. Alternatively, the court ordered him to return the motorbike to the complainant, emphasizing that the prison sentence must be served in full.
