Fisherman Remanded Over Alleged Attack at Aberdeen Wharf

A 27-year-old fisherman, Alhassan Morray, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on three charges relating to an alleged assault.
Moreau faces charges of wounding with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861; malicious wounding, contrary to Section 20; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47.
According to the particulars of the case, the alleged incident occurred on September 15, 2026, at Tambacula Wharf, Cape Road, Aberdeen, Freetown.
The prosecution alleges that Morray wounded Ibrahim Salieu Turay with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. The second count alleges malicious wounding, while the third accuses him of assaulting Turay and causing actual bodily harm.
The charges were read and explained to Morray, but no plea was taken as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings.
Prosecutor Inspector Florence Wilson told the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of the case and inquiry file. She also applied for subpoenas to be issued to prosecution witnesses who were absent from court.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the charges, and remanded Morray at the Male Correctional Facility. The matter was adjourned to October 29, 2026.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
