Court Issues Bench Warrant for Man Accused of Obtaining Property by False Pretences

A bench warrant has been issued for Anthony Murray after he failed to appear before Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, where he is facing charges of obtaining property by false pretences.
Magistrate John Manso Fornah ordered the warrant following Murray’s failure to attend court. The case involves allegations that Murray falsely claimed to own land that was available for sale and used the representation to obtain property from Musa Koroma.
According to the charge sheet, Murray allegedly obtained property from Koroma at Fungi Building, Brookfields, Freetown, between December 1 and 31, 2024.
He is also accused of obtaining a black Suzuki motorbike valued at US$1,000 from Koroma at No. 22 Blackhall Road between May 1 and 31, 2025.
In both counts, the prosecution alleges that Murray falsely represented that he had a parcel of land at Baoma Village, along the Waterloo–Tombo Highway, available for sale, with intent to defraud.
The charges were brought under Section 32(c) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
The allegations have not been proven in court. The matter was adjourned to October 29.
