Osman Daramy, a former camera operator at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), has been remanded in custody following his initial court appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown.

Mr. Daramy is facing serious charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony and multiple counts of office breaking and larceny, stemming from an alleged break-in at the SLBC premises.

According to the details of the offence, it is alleged that between the 5th and 6th of January 2026, Mr. Daramy conspired with unknown individuals to unlawfully enter the SLBC office located in New England Ville, Freetown, with the intention of committing theft.

The prosecution further alleges that during the break-in, he stole a 43-inch Sharp plasma television, valued at six thousand Leones (6,000 Leones), belonging to SLBC employee Claudia, and two separate sums of 2,000 Leones cash from the engineering office.

Mr. Daramy did not enter a plea as the matter is currently before the court for a preliminary investigation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, leading the prosecution, confirmed to the court that all necessary documents had been served to Mr. Daramy’s defense counsel, C. Kamara, who subsequently requested an adjournment to review the case file.

Citing the gravity of the alleged offences, Magistrate Fornah denied bail and ordered Mr. Daramy to be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned until 3rd February 2026.
