Umaru Napoleon Koroma, former National Secretary General of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has refuted recent social media allegations of missing party funds during his tenure.

These claims originated from a widely circulated video accusing the previous SLPP executive of financial mismanagement. Mr. Koroma, however, asserted that all financial transactions executed under his leadership, including the one million new leones deposited from the Bintumni Conference fundraising efforts, were meticulously documented and adhered to established official procedures.

Koroma has proactively encouraged the current party executive to initiate an independent audit of his administration’s financial operations. He expressed full confidence that such a review would unequivocally confirm the transparency and integrity with which the party’s resources were managed.

He further implored SLPP members, stakeholders, and leaders to abstain from disseminating divisive or unsubstantiated statements that could erode internal unity or undermine the dedication of loyal party supporters, particularly as the 2028 elections approach.

"We share a collective responsibility to communicate in a manner that is constructive, factually accurate, and serves the best interests of the SLPP," Koroma stated, urging members to concentrate efforts on securing another electoral mandate to preserve President Julius Maada Bio's legacy.
