Former Sierra Leone international forward Sidikie Braboss Mansaray has issued a compelling plea to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), advocating for the formal recognition and integration of former national team players into the current squad structure.
Mr. Mansaray stressed that numerous ex-players, who dedicated themselves to the nation with pride, commitment, and sacrifice, retain valuable expertise to contribute to the sport. He proposed that these former stars be considered for roles such as Kits Manager, Welfare Officer, and other key administrative or technical support positions. He asserts that this strategic inclusion would not only honor their service but also strengthen the vital intergenerational link between past and present footballers.
He further highlighted that the involvement of former internationals in the team setup would serve as a powerful source of inspiration for younger athletes, foster continuity, and ensure that invaluable institutional experience is retained within the national football framework.
Mansaray maintains that offering these national heroes substantive responsibilities is an essential step towards cultivating a more cohesive and progressive future for Sierra Leonean football.
