Freetown Murder Suspect Remanded in Custody Ahead of Trial

A 30-year-old man, Abass Kargbo, has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of a fellow resident in Freetown.
Kargbo made his first appearance today before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1, facing a charge of murder. He is accused of killing Abubakarr Fullah of Timbo Lane on November 11, 2025.
The charge against Kargbo is brought under Section 10 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).
No plea was entered during today’s hearing, as Kargbo remains under preliminary investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Inspector Mabel Magdalene Tarawally, Esq.
Magistrate Jah ordered that Kargbo be remanded in custody pending further proceedings. The matter has been adjourned to January 19, 2026, for hearing.
