Tribunal to Investigate Justice Halloway for Misconduct and Bribery

President Julius Maada Bio has inaugurated a Judicial Tribunal mandated to investigate the conduct of the Honourable Justice Allan Baami Halloway. Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony, President Bio emphasized the investigation's critical role in strengthening the justice sector and restoring public confidence in the judiciary, urging the members to adhere strictly to fairness, impartiality, and due process.

Constituted under Section 137 (5)(a) of the 1991 Constitution, the three-member tribunal is chaired by Justice Abdulai Masiyambay Bangura, JSC, with Francis Gabbidon, Esq. and Oladipo Robin-Mason as members. The body is tasked with examining serious allegations, including misconduct, insubordination, bribery, and significant case backlogs, some reportedly spanning over fifteen years. Specific allegations point to failures to comply with directives from the Chief Justice and questionable financial conduct.

Justice Halloway has categorically denied the claims, labeling them a "politically motivated witch-hunt" and contesting the constitutionality of his suspension. Chairman Justice Bangura has assured the public that the tribunal will conduct a thorough and objective review of all evidence.
