The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs, in collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission, has officially launched a three-day national capacity-building workshop to strengthen the monitoring and reporting of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda.
The workshop, which commenced on July 8, 2026, focuses on the Continental Results Framework (CRF). This strategic tool is designed to enhance accountability, improve data collection, and ensure evidence-based reporting on progress toward women’s participation in peace and security processes across the region.
In her opening remarks, the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs highlighted Sierra Leone’s legislative milestones, including the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act and the Abolition of Child Marriage Act. However, she emphasized that sustaining these gains requires more robust implementation and cross-institutional coordination.
“Advancing the WPS Agenda is a shared responsibility,” the Minister stated, urging stakeholders to utilize the CRF as a strategic mechanism for measuring progress and keeping women at the center of sustainable development.
The workshop concludes on July 10, with expected outcomes including a strengthened national reporting mechanism and improved stakeholder synergy.
