Simpson Bockarie, a resident of 14 Duawo Street, Kenema City, was sentenced to a four-year term of imprisonment by the High Court in Kenema on January 3, 2026. His Lordship, Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff, handed down the sentence following Bockarie’s conviction on charges of Conspiracy, Burglary, and Larceny, contrary to Section 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
The court heard that on September 17, 2025, in Kenema City, Mr. Bockarie conspired with unknown individuals to commit a felony. On the same date, he illegally entered the dwelling house of Alicious Desent Samba with the intent to steal, successfully taking one Techno Android mobile phone (valued at NLe 4,000.00), five suits of African clothes (NLe 3,500.00), six pairs of easy-wear slippers (NLe 2,400.00), and NLe 15,000.00 in cash, totaling NLe 24,900.00.
Despite pleading not guilty to both counts, the prosecution successfully proved its case with the testimony of three witnesses. Justice Sheriff sentenced Mr. Bockarie to two years imprisonment on count one and two years on count two, to run consecutively, at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema.
Defence Counsel Patrick Kamara of the Legal Aid Board submitted a plea for mitigation, requesting a minimal sentence.
The matter was prosecuted by State Counsel Andrew F. Kamara.
