High Court Sittings Suspended for Supreme Court Hearing

All High Court sittings at the Main Law Court Building in Freetown are suspended today, Thursday, October 8, 2026, due to ongoing Supreme Court proceedings regarding a proposed Constitutional Amendment.
The Deputy Master and Registrar’s Office announced the single-day closure, advising litigants and the public that High Court matters will not be heard while the apex court convenes.
The suspension follows Wednesday's Supreme Court session, where justices delivered key rulings on preliminary applications and scheduled the main constitutional hearing to resume at 10:00 a.m. today.
At the heart of the matter is the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which has been brought before the Supreme Court for legal determination.
The official notice suspending High Court activities was signed and issued by Hamur Hulaimatu F. Christian-Moses, Deputy Master and Registrar of the High Court of Sierra Leone.
