Sierra Leone’s home-based national squad has concluded its first full week of intensive training under newly appointed Head Coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa, marking the official kickoff of preparations for the upcoming TotalEnergies 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The ongoing training camp acts as a baseline evaluation for the new technical staff, enabling them to assess domestic talent, monitor physical fitness levels, and test tactical concepts prior to selecting the final qualifying roster.
Prominent among the participants is veteran defender Sallieu "Capay Sallieu" Tarawallie, widely regarded as one of the premier defensive talents in the local league, who completed all scheduled sessions during the opening week.
Following a brief weekend rest, the technical team will resume evaluations on Monday. Players are expected to maintain peak physical condition and compete for starting positions as tactical drills intensify.
The home-based camp represents the foundational phase of Coach Da Rosa’s vision to construct a disciplined, competitive squad capable of securing qualification for Sierra Leone at AFCON 2027.
With national expectations running high, the Leone Stars look to build momentum through structured preparation as the qualifying campaign approaches.
