Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has urged the technical team of the Sierra Leone U-17 Male National Team to ensure that players selected for the upcoming WAFU-A U-17 qualifiers earn their places strictly on merit.
Kamara made the call during a visit to the team’s training session at the SLFA Technical Center in Kingtom, Freetown, as preparations continue for the 2027 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He stressed the importance of fairness, professionalism and transparency in the selection process, urging coaches to remain impartial and assess players based on their performance, discipline, commitment and overall ability.
The SLFA President also reminded the players and technical staff that they will represent the entire nation and must demonstrate discipline, unity and determination. He encouraged the young players to work hard, respect the national colours and give their best to make Sierra Leoneans proud.
Sierra Leone has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Senegal, Mauritania and The Gambia for the WAFU-A U-17 competition, scheduled for August 7–20, 2026, in Senegal.
As preparations gather momentum, Kamara expressed confidence in the technical team and urged them to assemble a strong and competitive squad capable of performing well in the regional qualifiers.
The Sierra Stars will continue their preparations with the ultimate goal of securing qualification for the 2027 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
