Housebreaking Convict Freed After Time Served

After spending 16 months in detention, Alusine Forfona was freed when Justice Mohamed Bawoh delivered a sentence matching time served at High Court No. 2.
Forfona faced one count of housebreaking and larceny under Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1961, stemming from a break-in on 7 July 2025 at the home of Alpha Ishmaila Jalloh in Freetown, where a Samsung Galaxy A05 mobile phone valued at Le9,600 was stolen.
Defense counsel C. Taylor Young urged the court to show leniency, while State Counsel ABN Taylor Kamara represented the prosecution. Forfona also appealed directly to the court, stating he had learned his lesson and asking for his time in custody to be taken into account.
In his ruling, Justice Bawoh noted that the defendant had not wasted the court’s time and sentenced him to the 16 months already spent in detention.
