The Sierra Leone Immigration Department (SLID), in a statement from its headquarters at 14 Gloucester Street, Freetown, has formally withdrawn the directive issued on 7 May 2026 concerning verification procedures for non-national passengers, confirming that all existing immigration entry requirements remain unchanged.
This revised clarification has been disseminated to all air carriers operating at Freetown International Airport, including ASKY Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Air Peace, Air Sierra Leone, and Kenya Airways, among others.
Incoming passengers are required to adhere to established immigration protocols.
Visa requirements, including visa-free entry and visa-on-arrival arrangements, remain fully operational.
SLID further specifies that non-national residents of Sierra Leone must present a valid Biometric Residence Permit, or an applicable valid visa, in accordance with current regulatory standards.
Airlines are advised to ensure that non-national residents hold valid biometric residence permits prior to check-in and boarding for outgoing flights.
This measure is implemented to enhance compliance and operational efficiency at the airport.
This communication officially supersedes the earlier directive, assuring all stakeholders of the stability of immigration procedures.
SLID appreciates the continued cooperation of airlines and partners in maintaining streamlined airport operations.
