Sylvia Olayinka Blyden has issued a public response following the dismissal of her civil litigation against officials of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU-EOM). The High Court further ordered Ms. Blyden to pay NLe150,000 in legal costs.

In a statement released via social media shortly after the decision, Ms. Blyden criticized the Government and the Attorney General’s Office, alleging professional negligence and questioning the expedited timeline for the enforcement of the judgment.

The High Court determined that it lacked the necessary jurisdiction to preside over the matter, subsequently granting the defendants' application for dismissal.

Regarding the ruling, Ms. Blyden noted that the statutory period for filing an appeal remains active, contending that current efforts to enforce the payment order are premature.

She emphasized that the 21-day window for appealing a judgment involving an expired Writ has not yet concluded.

Furthermore, Ms. Blyden asserted that her primary focus remains directed toward allegations concerning a vessel reportedly linked to illicit substances, rather than the immediate court decision.

She maintained that she would not be distracted from her inquiries into the maritime matter.

Ms. Blyden also alluded to prior interactions with law enforcement, citing instances where her residence was searched and personal property was confiscated.

These remarks follow formal correspondence from the Office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, which instructed Ms. Blyden to settle the court-ordered costs by May 12, 2026, to avoid potential enforcement proceedings.
