Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, known as Jagaban and a flagbearer aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC), has formally announced a commitment of Le1 billion to religious organizations across Sierra Leone, alongside a targeted humanitarian intervention for a disabled citizen in Freetown.

The substantial donation to faith-based communities was channeled through the established structures of the United Council of Imams and the United Council of Pastors. This support is allocated to assist Imams during the observance of Ramadan and Pastors during the Lent period.

Mr. Kamara stated that this financial contribution aligns with his annual tradition of supporting religious leaders during key sacred seasons. The total sum is equally divided, with Le500 million designated for the Imams' Iftar programs during Ramadan and Le500 million for the Pastors' Lent observances, disbursed through their respective administrative councils.

Representatives from both religious bodies formally acknowledged the contribution, recognizing Mr. Kamara's commitment to fostering religious tolerance, national unity, peace, and developmental initiatives throughout Sierra Leone.

In a separate community engagement at Dwarzark, Freetown, Mr. Kamara provided direct humanitarian assistance. He presented a new pair of crutches to Mr. Sorie Marrah, a disabled resident who had been utilizing damaged mobility aids. Additional financial support was also extended to Mr. Marrah and his disabled associates.

In his remarks during the presentation, Mr. Kamara emphasized that the assistance was provided to enhance Mr. Marrah’s mobility and preserve his dignity.

Mr. Marrah conveyed his deep appreciation for the support, noting that the acquisition of proper, safe crutches had been a long-standing necessity.

These coordinated efforts underscore Mr. Kamara's stated commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and actively promoting inter-faith cooperation nationwide. The initiatives have garnered positive reception from both the disabled community and religious leadership, solidifying his public image as a political figure prioritizing humanitarian and community-focused development.
