Opposition political figure Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has committed to a comprehensive program of equipping and modernizing Sierra Leone's military should he be elected president. He highlighted what he characterized as substantial deficiencies in the nation’s current defense capabilities.
In a recent social media statement, Kamarainba asserted that Sierra Leone lacks a functional air force and navy. He claimed that a majority of Air Force personnel have not had operational experience flying aircraft or helicopters, and that the naval fleet is deficient in operational vessels.
He affirmed that, under his administration, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) would be equipped with a properly functional Air Force and Navy.
“Upon assuming the presidency, I will ensure Sierra Leone is fully equipped militarily. Our country will possess a truly functional SL Airforce and SL Navy,” he wrote, concluding his message with the phrase, “So, help me God.”
Kamarainba’s comments contribute to the ongoing national dialogue concerning national security, military readiness, and the strategic future of Sierra Leone's defense posture.
