Presidential Spokesman Alpha Kanu has staunchly defended the integrity of the 2023 general elections, asserting that the governing Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) secured a clear and verifiable victory.

During a broadcast on Unity Broadcasting, Mr. Kanu emphasized that the electoral process was conducted transparently and in strict adherence to established protocols. He noted that representatives from every contesting political party were present throughout the ballot counting process.

Furthermore, Mr. Kanu stated that Results Reconciliation Forms (RRFs) were duly signed by the agents representing the various political parties, with each party retaining copies of these official documents.

"I can confirm that the SLPP won the 2023 elections decisively," Kanu stated, affirming the legitimacy of President Julius Maada Bio's victory.

Mr. Kanu also issued a direct challenge to critics who continue to dispute the election results, urging them to pursue legal channels for resolution. He maintained that any party alleging irregularities is obligated to present credible substantiating evidence before a court of law.

"If there is a belief that the election was rigged, the matter must be brought before the court with tangible evidence," he added.

The 2023 elections remain a significant point of political contention, with opposition groups articulating concerns over the process, while government officials consistently defend its probity.

As of the time of reporting, no immediate comment from opposition representatives regarding Mr. Kanu's latest statements has been made available.
