Kenema Court Remand Suspects in Murder and Attempted Murder Cases

The Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema has remanded two men in connection with separate serious criminal cases involving murder and attempted murder. The remand took place on January 8, 2025, before His Worship, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh.
Abu Kamando, a farmer from Madina Village, Wandor Chiefdom, is facing charges of Murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861, as amended by Section 1 of the Abolition of Death Penalty Act No.6 of 2022. Prosecutors allege that on Saturday, June 28, 2025, Kamando allegedly killed Bundu Kamando at Kamando Village Bush in Wandor Chiefdom. No plea was taken, and the matter has been adjourned to January 20, 2026.
Mohamed Sheriff, a harbormaster from Kenema, Nongowa Chiefdom, has been charged with Attempted Murder, Wounding with Intent, and Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861. According to prosecution, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Sheriff allegedly inflicted severe injuries on Michel Paul Nicole at No.17 Sheikh Abubakarr Street, Lumbebu Axis, Kenema City, including cutting off the victim’s left thumb with a matchet and spraying a liquid suspected to be acid into the victim’s eyes. No plea was entered, and the case has been adjourned to January 16, 2025, for preliminaries.
Both cases are being prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sulaiman Kamara, Esq., of the Legal and Justice Support Department, Kenema Police Division.
