Kenema LUC Urges Community to Take Ownership of Security

The Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kenema Division, Chief Superintendent Bob Musa Mansaray, has called on residents of Gombu, Tissor, and Hangha to actively participate in maintaining their community’s security.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Gombu Town Barry, Chief Superintendent Mansaray expressed concern over the community’s growing association with criminal activities. He stressed that crime prevention is not the sole responsibility of the police, urging parents, youths, and community leaders to contribute to restoring peace and upholding the law

“Security is everyone’s business,” he said, emphasizing the need for a united and coordinated approach.

The LUC condemned the rising trend of hiring youths to create disorder, describing it as both dangerous and unacceptable. He urged the community to resist such manipulation and work with the police to mentor young people toward productive and disciplined lives.

Chief Superintendent Mansaray also challenged youth leaders to demonstrate responsibility and inspire positive change. He introduced the “Three Cs” model Communicate, Coordinate, and Cooperate as essential tools for building trust and achieving sustainable peace.

He concluded by reiterating that the security of Gombu and surrounding areas rests not only with the police but with every resident committed to making a difference.
