As the lower-level elections of the All People’s Congress commenced today, the Local Unit Commander of Kenema Division, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, conducted a briefing for police personnel prior to their deployment to various duty posts.
The engagement focused on reinforcing professionalism and clarifying operational responsibilities throughout the electoral process. CSP Kpulun emphasized the principles of discipline and integrity, reminding officers to remain strictly apolitical to maintain public trust and ensure a peaceful voting environment.
He further highlighted the importance of effective coordination and communication to guarantee a prompt and organized response to any emerging situations. A dedicated strategic response team has also been placed on standby to respond swiftly to any distress calls, while routine policing duties continue uninterrupted across the division. This measure, he noted, will ensure both election security and community safety are adequately maintained.
Earlier today, the Regional Police Commander East, AIG Francis Brima Meinday, had admonished all Local Unit Commanders in the Eastern region to provide necessary security services within their respective jurisdictions. He urged officers to remain vigilant, professional, and proactive in safeguarding lives and property as the electoral exercise progresses.
The police deployment underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to maintain order, uphold democratic principles, and ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
