Dr. Richard Konteh, a prominent aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer position, has strongly criticized a recent political survey that positioned Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, known as Jagaban, as the party’s most favored candidate. Konteh dismissed the report as misleading and politically calculated, arguing that its findings are intended to manipulate internal party dynamics.
He claimed the survey, conducted by the Institute for Civic Research (ICR), was a strategic maneuver aimed at favoring a candidate the ruling Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) believes it can politically manage, stating,
"The SLPP would rather deal with Jagaban than deal with me."
Furthermore, Konteh highlighted the survey's lack of integrity by pointing out the omission of his name from the list of potential APC aspirants.
While questioning the poll's validity as a neutral assessment, Konteh maintained respect for Jagaban's contribution to the APC. However, he insisted the two are not politically comparable, concluding, "Even Jagaban knows that he and I are not a match."
Konteh’s remarks underscore the intensifying internal debate within the APC as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
