KPU Islamic Conference Unites West Africa; President Bio Attends

The Kormende Progressive Union (KPU) recently convened its 6th Annual International Islamic Prayer Conference in Kpadebu, Dama Chiefdom, Kenema District, under the resonant theme: “The Kormende's Role in Shaping Islamic Identity in West Africa.”
This significant religious and cultural assembly attracted a high-profile audience, including Islamic scholars, religious leaders, dignitaries, and members of the Muslim community from Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire, and the wider West African sub-region, underscoring the Kormende Muslim community's strength and cohesion.
The conference was distinguished by the attendance of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Madam Fatima Jabbie Bio, alongside senior government officials and international guests.
Paramount Chief Momoh Fowai, in his welcoming remarks, expressed gratitude for the President's presence and advocated for essential development initiatives, specifically requesting the construction of the Kenema-Zimmi Road, improvements to the telecommunication network, and better access to clean water in his Chiefdom.
Mohamed Fuad Daboh provided an overview of the KPU, emphasizing its commitment to fostering unity, Islamic principles, and social progress. He noted that the annual, six-day event rotates venues within the sub-region and incorporates activities such as Qur'anic recitations, enlightening lectures from renowned scholars, and Duas for peace and development.
In his keynote address, President Bio lauded the KPU for organizing the spiritually enriching and unifying event. He stressed the vital importance of Islamic identity, peaceful coexistence, and national unity, pledging the government's sustained support for religious and community-led initiatives.
The program concluded with special Duas for the nation, its leadership, and the continued growth of the Kormende Progressive Union.
