Former Sierra Leone international Junior Parade Koroma has paid a heartfelt tribute to his former teammate and close friend, Roger Lukaku, who passed away on Sunday 28th September 2025, in Belgium after suffering a heart attack.

Lukaku, a highly respected forward, was among the top attackers in the Belgian First Division during the early 1990s. He was also the father of Belgium international Romelu Lukaku, who has played for top European clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Roma, and Napoli.

Reflecting on their time together at FC Boom in Belgium, Koroma described Lukaku as an exceptional striker with superb ball control, intelligent movement, and a natural eye for goal.

“Lukaku was not only a great teammate but also a true friend. He always said to me, ‘Junior, you make things easy for me whenever we play together.’ He even tried to stop me from going back home to play for Sierra Leone because of the strong partnership we shared on the pitch,” Koroma recalled.

Koroma added that he would forever cherish the memories they created together, describing Lukaku as “a very good striker and a wonderful person.”

The football world mourns the loss of Roger Lukaku, whose legacy lives on through his family and the unforgettable moments he gave to the game.
