Leone Stars Turn Focus to Equatorial Guinea After Zimbabwe Defeat
Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars have commenced recovery and preparations for their second Group E fixture of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea on Monday, September 28, in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
The team held a physical fitness recovery session on Friday morning following their demanding 3-2 defeat to Zimbabwe in El Jadida, Morocco, where they surrendered a two-goal lead in their opening qualifier.
The technical team has now shifted focus to recovery, regrouping and preparation ahead of the Equatorial Guinea encounter. Meanwhile, Alhassan Koroma and Abdulai Juma Bah are making positive progress after being withdrawn against Zimbabwe with minor injuries. Both players will continue rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team.
Leone Stars will travel to Yaoundé seeking to recover from their opening defeat, while Equatorial Guinea will also be looking for their first Group E points after losing their opening match to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
