Luawa FC secured a vital 4-1 victory over FC Kallon, significantly boosting their relegation survival hopes. Despite trailing early to a Saidu M. Kamara goal, Luawa responded with strikes from Melvin Koroma, Richard Bockarie, Ibrahim Dumbuya, and Umaru Kamara. This win moves Luawa FC level on points with Diamond Stars as they fight to maintain their top-flight status with only three games remaining.
The “Cacao Boys” Luawa FC produced a stunning comeback to defeat FC Kallon “the Cavaliers” 4-1 on Friday June 19, at the Approved School Field, reigniting their survival hopes with three games left.
FC Kallon drew first blood in the 7th minute through Saidu M. Kamara. Both sides showed attacking intent, but clear chances were scarce as Luawa FC battled the pressure of the relegation fight. After weathering the early storm, the hosts found their equalizer in the 37th minute when Melvin Koroma struck to send both teams into halftime level at 1-1.
Luawa FC returned sharper after the break. Their sustained pressure forced FC Kallon deep into their own half and won the Cacao Boys a penalty on the hour mark. The spot kick was poorly taken though, with the FC Kallon goalkeeper pulling off a fine save to keep it 1-1.
Undeterred, Luawa FC kept pushing. Persistence paid off in the 67th minute when Richard Bockarie finished clinically to give the Cacao Boys a deserved 2-1 lead.
FC Kallon threatened to restore parity, but Luawa FC’s defense stood resolute. The hosts then took control. Ibrahim Dumbuya made it 3-1 in the 78th minute, giving Luawa renewed belief in their escape bid. Umaru Kamara put the result beyond doubt in the 86th minute, capping an impressive display with a 4-1 finish.
The victory lifts Luawa FC to 16th with 33 points, level with 15th-placed Diamond Stars but behind on goal difference as the relegation battle goes down to the wire. Luawa FC will host Old Edwardians FC at the SLFA Academy on Thursday 25 June 2026.
