The Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission Sierra Leone (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., has concluded his tenure as West Africa Regional Representative on the Executive Committee of the Association of African Anti-Corruption Authorities (AAACA).
Kaifala together with the ACC’s Coordinator of Operations, Patrick Sandi, represented Sierra Leone at the 8th AAACA Annual General Assembly held from 16 to 18 June 2026 at the Central Bank of Kenya Institute of Monetary Studies in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Assembly was held under the theme “Strengthening Cooperation and Institutional Innovation for an Effective Fight Against Corruption in Africa,” bringing together anti-corruption institutions from across the continent.
A key outcome of the meeting was the official launch of the Centre for Research and Studies in Anti-Corruption (CEREAC), a continental platform designed to strengthen research, capacity building, and knowledge sharing among anti-corruption practitioners.
The Assembly also featured elections for executive positions, including regional representatives across Africa.
Kaifala’s tenure as West Africa Regional Representative, which began following his election in June 2022 in Bujumbura, Burundi, officially ended at the Nairobi meeting.
During his tenure, he contributed to several continental initiatives, including support for the establishment of CEREAC and efforts that expanded AAACA membership to additional African countries.
He has been succeeded by Cllr. Alexandra Kormah Zoe, Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission.
Kaifala continues to hold other continental roles, including membership of the Africa Advisory Board on Corruption and leadership positions within regional anti-corruption networks.
The ACC said Sierra Leone’s participation underscores its continued commitment to regional cooperation in strengthening the fight against corruption across Africa.
