Majority Leader Donates Motorcycle to Kenema Journalist in Gesture of Support

Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, Leader of Government Business and Majority Leader in Parliament, has donated a rechargeable motorcycle to veteran journalist Saffa B. Moriba, an act highlighted as a commitment to inclusive leadership and the recognition of professional excellence.

The presentation, held at the Constituency 019 office on Turay Street, was attended by community leaders, journalists, and local stakeholders. The recipient, Saffa B. Moriba, known widely as "2249," is a well-regarded reporter with the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC). 

Despite facing physical disability, Moriba has maintained a distinguished career as a trained teacher and former BBC contributor, earning praise for his ethical standards and dedication to public service.

Hon. Nyuma stated that the donation was independent of political affiliations, noting that it was inspired by Moriba’s professional consistency and integrity. He specifically commended the journalist for his unbiased coverage, describing Moriba as an exemplar of responsible media practices.

The motorcycle is intended to improve Moriba’s mobility, allowing him to carry out his reporting duties with greater efficiency. Expressing his appreciation, Moriba described the gift as a transformative intervention that acknowledges his perseverance and professional dedication.

Representatives from the Eastern Region chapter of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) attended the event, commending Hon. Nyuma’s ongoing support for local media and advocating for continued cooperation to further professionalize journalism in the region.
