Mohamed Turay, a 28-year-old commercial driver, has been granted NLe 20,000 bail after appearing in court on charges of fraudulently converting a motorbike for his own use.

Turay was brought before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.

Police reports indicate the incident occurred in November 2024 at Macfoy Lane, Congo Town, where Turay allegedly took possession of a TVS Star motorbike (registration number ARD 751), valued at NLe 12,000. The motorbike had been entrusted to him by Umaro Samson Bangura for commercial purposes.

During the session, the charge was read to Turay, but he did not enter a plea. Constable Brima Kargbo, the lead police prosecutor, requested a short adjournment, citing the unavailability of prosecution witnesses.

Magistrate Jah granted Turay bail on the condition that he provides two sureties residing within the court's jurisdiction. Both sureties must present valid NCRA identification cards. The case has been adjourned to September 10, 2025, for further hearing.
