Man Remanded After Admitting to Stealing Bitter Kola and Slippers

A young man, Alpha Kamara, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown on allegations of housebreaking and larceny.

The case involves the alleged theft of bitter kola and other items from a residence on Garrison Street.

According to the charge before the court, Kamara allegedly broke into the house of Ishmael Kuyated on Monday, June 29, 2026, with the intention of stealing.

In his account to the court, Kamara said he was employed by the complainant to fetch water and claimed that he entered the house after the door unexpectedly opened.

He admitted taking some bitter kola from a bag inside the house, explaining that he intended to sell it.

Kamara also admitted taking a pair of slippers, telling the court that his own slippers were worn out and acknowledging that the slippers he took did not belong to him.

Following the proceedings, Magistrate John Manso Fornah ordered Kamara to be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre.

The matter was adjourned to August 20, 2026, for further proceedings.
