Man Remanded on Charges of Alleged Burglary and Mobile Phone Theft

A 22-year-old man has been remanded in custody following charges of allegedly breaking into a residence and stealing a mobile phone in Freetown.


The defendant, Emmanuel Kargbo, a 22-year-old mason, appeared before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 to answer charges of house larceny.



Kargbo is charged with unlawfully entering a dwelling with intent to commit a felony, in violation of Section 13(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916. The alleged incident occurred on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Comium Pole Hill Top, Hill Station, Mountain Rural District, in the Western Area of Freetown.


According to court documents, Kargbo allegedly entered the residence of Ibrahim Tucker and stole a Tecno Android mobile phone valued at 2,500 Leones. Upon hearing the charges, Kargbo did not enter a plea.



Police Prosecutor Zainab Bangura requested a brief adjournment to facilitate the presentation of additional witnesses. Magistrate Kallon, noting the seriousness of the offense, denied bail and remanded Kargbo to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to July 8, 2025.
