Alimamy Kamara, a 34-year-old mason, has been sentenced to five years in prison following his conviction for the fraudulent conversion of a motorcycle. The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
Kamara was charged with one count of fraudulent conversion under Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. Court records established that on August 17, 2025, at Kowa Drive, Motormeh, in Regent Village, the defendant fraudulently took a blue Star TVS motorcycle, bearing registration number AYE 463 and valued at Le36,000. The vehicle had been entrusted to Kamara by Ibrahim Gbandia for commercial operation.
During the court proceedings, Kamara entered a guilty plea, admitting to the offense. Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo confirmed the facts of the case, noting that the defendant had no prior criminal record.
In his plea for leniency, the defense urged the court to show mercy. In his judgment, Magistrate Jah acknowledged that Kamara’s early guilty plea, expression of remorse, and lack of previous offenses demonstrated an acceptance of responsibility and had conserved judicial time.
However, citing the severity of the charge, the court sentenced Kamara to five years’ imprisonment to be served at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
