The Marampa Mines Women’s Premier League fixture on Saturday resulted in a 2-2 stalemate between Mena Queens FC and Vem Buck at the Approved School Field in Wellington.


Vem Buck took the initiative, gaining an early lead in the 6th minute courtesy of Mariena Maadaline (#10), who finished a setup from Kadiatu Deen (#7). Mena Queens found their response in the 31st minute, equalizing through Marie B. Conteh (#20). 


The first half featured disciplinary action, with Christiana Kouyateh (#4) of Vem Buck and Hawanatu Fornah (#5) Mena Queens receiving cautions. On the stroke of halftime (45th minute), Vem Buck restored their advantage when Mariama Turay (#14) converted a penalty kick, securing a 2-1 lead at the break. Turay subsequently received a caution early in the second half.


Mena Queens pressed aggressively after the interval, culminating in the decisive equalizer in the 63rd minute, netted by Memunatu Bangura (#19) with an assist from Marie Kamara (#8). Despite late efforts from both sides to break the deadlock, the final score remained 2-2, attributed largely to robust defensive displays. 


Post-match, Memunatu Bangura (#19) was deservedly named Player of the Match, recognizing her pivotal role and goal. The hard-fought contest in Wellington ultimately resulted in one point apiece for the competing sides.
