Minister Chernor Bah and US Embassy To Launch Visa Compliance Awareness Campaign

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, alongside Jacqueline Moore, Director of Public Affairs at the United States Embassy, have convened to finalize plans for a collaborative public awareness campaign focused on visa compliance.

This initiative is designed to educate Sierra Leoneans on the importance of adhering to visa terms and the potential ramifications of overstaying.

The campaign will emphasize that respecting immigration laws is not only a legal obligation but also a matter of national pride and collective responsibility.

Both parties concurred that the campaign is vital for safeguarding opportunities for Sierra Leonean nationals and for strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two countries.

Minister Bah highlighted that his ministry will leverage all available platforms to disseminate this crucial message nationwide.

He also intends to address the issue during upcoming town hall meetings with Sierra Leoneans residing in the US, which are scheduled to coincide with the UN General Assembly in September.

Ms. Moore reaffirmed the US's commitment to working collaboratively with Sierra Leone, commending the government’s efforts in the repatriation of nationals and expressing optimism regarding the resolution of temporary visa restrictions.

The campaign is anticipated to foster greater understanding and compliance, ensuring a smoother and more beneficial interaction for Sierra Leoneans seeking opportunities abroad.
