Minister Swaray Advances Sierra Leone’s Strategic Diplomatic Goals

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has undertaken a series of high-level diplomatic engagements in Jeddah and Luanda to advance the country's development priorities and strengthen regional partnerships.
Representing President Julius Maada Bio at the Extraordinary Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Swaray reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to peace, multilateralism, and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the conference, he held bilateral talks with Saudi Arabia's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khereiji, as well as Nigerian officials, targeting strategic cooperation in investment, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and food security.
Following his Saudi engagements, Swaray attended the 26th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union in Luanda, Angola, on Saturday, 29 August 2026. There, he met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and counterparts from Nigeria and Ghana to deepen bilateral ties, enhance regional security, and align on continental priorities.
According to Swaray, this diplomatic campaign reflects a proactive, results-driven foreign policy aimed at ensuring international partnerships deliver tangible socio-economic benefits for the people of Sierra Leone.
