Ministry Suspends 16 NGOs for Non-Compliance with Operational Standards

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced today that it has suspended the operations of sixteen non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for failing to comply with established operational requirements.

The Ministry stated that a comprehensive review revealed several NGOs were operating without meeting requisite standards, notably lacking identifiable offices within Sierra Leone.

According to the Ministry, the move is a proactive step to enhance the integrity of the NGO sector and foster greater public confidence and trust, rather than to impede the valuable contributions NGOs make to societal development.

The Ministry emphasized the imperative for NGOs to adhere to prescribed requirements to effectively fulfill their missions and ensure judicious use of resources, citing their role as custodians of public trust and resources.

The directive mandates the immediate cessation of operations for the following organizations: Restoration Hope and Development Initiative, Sibra Foundation, Smart Green Solution SL, Allies in Development, Madina Youth Development Association, Our Concern Sierra Leone, New Face Africa, Bintumani D SL German Sierra Leone, Dr. Sheik Humarr Khan Foundation, Girl Child Network SL, House of Promise Sierra Leone, Faselah Charity, A & H Organisation, Safe Place International, Boys & Girls Club, and United Kawaya Development Association.
