Sierra Leone Women's National Cricket Team To Compete Amongst Eight Countries

The Sierra Leone women's national cricket team is geared up for a pivotal challenge as they prepare to compete in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier. 


The tournament, set to ignite in Namibia from August 31 to September 6, 2025, will see Sierra Leone battle it out against seven formidable nations: Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and the host nation, Namibia.


This qualifier marks a monumental moment for women's cricket in Sierra Leone, a program that has recently enjoyed a meteoric rise. 


June 2025 was a month of unprecedented success for the team, as they showcased exceptional skill and unwavering teamwork, sweeping all seven matches at the BCA Kalahari Women's T20 International Tournament in Botswana. 


This triumph was immediately followed by their impressive run in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Division Two Qualifier, where Sierra Leone and Rwanda emerged as deserving finalists.


These remarkable achievements have not only significantly bolstered Sierra Leone’s ICC Women's T20 International ranking but have also garnered widespread acclaim. 


The National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SL), the National Sports Authority (NSA), and the Ministry of Sports have all lauded the team for their exemplary conduct and outstanding accomplishments.


With their recent string of victories fueling their confidence, the Sierra Leonean squad appears exceptionally motivated to make a lasting impression on the global stage.
