East End Lions' TotalEnergies CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Union Sportive Monastirienne has taken an unexpected turn, with both legs now slated to be played in Tunisia.
The Tunisian outfit has reportedly declined to travel to Sierra Leone, citing the arduous distance from the airport to the match venue as their primary concern.
This development leaves the Sierra Leonean champions facing an uphill battle, as they were also unable to secure Liberia's SKD Complex as an alternative home venue for the opening leg, attributing the setback to "financial limitations."
The "Killers" are now scheduled to depart for Tunisia via Guinea on September 17th. The first leg is anticipated to kick off between September 19th-21st, with the decisive second leg set for September 26th-28th.
The Lions will undoubtedly be tested by the double away fixture as they look to make a mark on the continental stage.
