Murder, Theft: Three Defendants Sent to High Court for Trial in Kenema

On January 21, 2026, His Worship, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema, committed three defendants to stand trial before the High Court of Sierra Leone. The defendants are: Ansu Goba, alias Gaza, an 18-year-old pupil residing at Talia Torgboma village, Kenema Judicial District; Moseray Kamara, a 20-year-old unemployed resident of Kingsway Street, Kenema; and Samai Blango, a 20-year-old miner from Largo Town, Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District.
Defendant Ansu Goba was arraigned on one count of Murder for the alleged killing of Kemoh Sesay Mannah. According to the Prosecuting Officer, ASP Sulaiman Kamara Esq., Mr. Goba allegedly murdered Kemoh Sesay Mannah on October 27, 2025, at Mano-Kortuma village, Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. A plea was not taken, and the defendant was unrepresented by legal counsel. Mr. Goba was remanded at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema pending his trial at the High Court.
Defendant Moseray Kamara, also known as Ice boy, is alleged to have broken into the dwelling house of Samuel Lavallie on December 19, 2024, at Benduma-meima village, Malegohun Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, and stolen the sum of Sixty-Eight Thousand New Leones (NLe 68,000).
Defendant Samai Blango was arraigned on two counts: House Breaking, contrary to Section 27(2) of the Larceny Act 1916, and Malicious Damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861. Prosecutor Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa, in association with Defence Counsel Banie. E. Sesay Esq., stated that on December 12, 2025, at Largo Town, Kenema District, Mr. Blango allegedly broke and entered the dwelling house of Fatmata Kabba with the intent to commit a felony.
On the same date and location, he is further alleged to have maliciously damaged one steel window, valued at Three Thousand, Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 3,500), the property of Ms. Fatmata Kabba. A plea was not taken, and the defendant lacked legal representation. He was remanded at the SLCC in Kenema, and the matter was committed to the High Court of Sierra Leone for trial.
