NMC Publishes Approved Nursing Training List
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Sierra Leone has released a comprehensive directory of accredited and approved institutions offering nursing and midwifery training across the country.
Published in a notice dated November 4, 2026, the list covers training institutions and education departments across the Western Area Urban, Western Area Rural, North-West, Northern Province, Southern Province, and Eastern Province. Among the highlighted institutions in Western Area Urban are the Faculty of Nursing at COMAHS, Bu Ali Sina School of Nursing, AMTA Medical College, the National School of Midwifery, and IMMATT College.
While the publication is designed to help prospective students identify recognised training options, it contains a noticeable discrepancy. Although the Council stated that there are 25 accredited institutions or departments in total, the entries listed actually add up to 29. Furthermore, inconsistencies were noted in the numbering within the Northern Province section—where the number six appears twice—while the Southern Province section lacks a uniform numbering format.
The Council has not yet issued a clarification regarding these discrepancies in the published list.
