The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has formally issued a directive addressed to all relevant stakeholders and revenue-generating establishments, emphasizing the critical necessity of full compliance with statutory Non-Tax Revenue (NTR) obligations. This communication serves as a formal notification regarding the legal mandates governing various sectors of the economy.
In the notice released on April 16, 2026, the Authority specifically identified several key entities that must adhere to these regulations. These include mining operations, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) license holders, and Internet Service Providers. Furthermore, the directive extends to media organizations, such as television and radio stations, as well as factory operators, private security firms, liquor license holders, and those involved with state land leases or freehold operations.
The NRA further clarified that all affected organizations are expected to regularize their financial and legal standings immediately. It was noted that these measures are intended to align operations with current regulatory frameworks. The Authority highlighted that failure to settle these obligations would trigger enforcement protocols as outlined under Section 12 of the Finance Act 2019.
The report concluded by outlining the severe consequences of non-compliance, which may encompass the sealing of business premises, the garnishment of institutional bank accounts, and the imposition of international travel restrictions on relevant personnel.
The Authority reiterated that these actions are part of a broader strategy to enhance revenue collection and ensure a standardized fiscal environment for all economic participants.
