NRA Shuts Down BBT Quarry Over Unpaid NLe276,935 EIA Liability

The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has sealed off BBT Quarry in Cline Town, Freetown, over an outstanding liability of NLe276,935.42 linked to an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) licence.

The enforcement action was carried out on Monday, September 21, 2026, by the NRA’s Non-Tax Revenue Department.

According to the NRA, the action forms part of its ongoing enforcement efforts to ensure businesses meet their statutory financial obligations and comply with government revenue requirements.

The authority said the measures are also aimed at strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation by ensuring that businesses fulfil their financial obligations to the state.

The NRA has urged taxpayers and business operators to settle their statutory obligations promptly to avoid enforcement action.

The authority said improved compliance is essential to supporting the government’s national development programmes.
