The National Sports Authority (NSA), under the leadership of Executive Director Aphaka Conteh Esq., is preparing to collaborate with the Office of Sports Ambassador Charlie Bio Junior to organise the first-ever football competition between Kekeh and motorcycle riders across all regions of Sierra Leone.
The proposed tournament is aimed at promoting sports inclusion, fostering unity among riders, and creating opportunities for young people to showcase their talents through football.
A strategic meeting held on Monday, 13 July 2026, and chaired by Executive Director Conteh, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives of the Kekeh and Bike Riders Unions, sports officials, and other partners to discuss plans for the historic competition.
During the meeting, Conteh explained that the initiative is designed to promote harmony and discipline among riders while supporting President Julius Maada Bio’s youth empowerment agenda. He added that the competition will also serve as a platform to identify talented players with the potential to represent Sierra Leone in various sporting categories.
The initiative received support from stakeholders, including NSA Chairman Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, who described the planned tournament as a commendable step towards strengthening unity and inclusion by engaging Sierra Leoneans from different backgrounds through sports.
Mr. Nyelenkeh said football remains a powerful tool for mobilising communities, promoting discipline among young people, and creating opportunities that contribute to national development.
Other speakers at the meeting also praised the NSA’s initiative, noting that the competition could help change negative perceptions about riders while encouraging them to participate positively in sports and community development.
The meeting concluded with the NSA reaffirming its commitment to organising a well-structured and memorable first edition of the Kekeh and Bike Riders Football Tournament, which is expected to become a landmark event in Sierra Leone’s sporting history.
