Nurses Association Donates Essential Bedding to Pujehun Government Hospital
In a significant boost to local healthcare delivery, the Sierra Leone Nurses Association (SLNA) Pujehun District branch has donated 28 new medical mattresses and complete sets of bed linens to the Pujehun Government Hospital.
The philanthropic initiative was realized through financial and logistical support from the North America Branch of the Pujehun District Descendants Association (PDDA), highlighting a collaborative push between local healthcare professionals and the diaspora to strengthen district health infrastructure.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony, Margret K. Jajuah, President of the SLNA Pujehun District branch, emphasized that the donation directly addresses pressing challenges faced by both patients and medical staff.
“Adequate and hygienic bedding is fundamental to ensuring the comfort, dignity, and recovery of admitted patients,” Jajuah stated, extending deep appreciation to PDDA North America for swiftly answering the call for support.
Accepting the supplies on behalf of the health facility, Dr. Momoh Nyallay, Medical Superintendent of Pujehun Government Hospital, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the contribution will immediately enhance the hospital environment and patient care outcomes.
Echoing these sentiments, District Medical Officer James Bockarie Jongopie commended both organizations for their dedication to civic welfare. Jongopie called upon other organizations, community stakeholders, and Pujehun natives living domestically and abroad to follow suit by supporting local healthcare facilities with essential equipment and operational resources.
Juliet Umu Lahai, representing PDDA North America, reiterated her group's commitment to community development, framing the donation as part of an ongoing mission to give back to their homeland and inspire broader diaspora engagement.
The donation marks another milestone in regional efforts to build sustainable healthcare partnerships and elevate the standard of medical services across Sierra Leone.
