PDC Convenes Bi-Lateral Budget Discussions for 2027–2029 MTEF

The Pujehun District Council has opened its Bi-Lateral Budget Discussion at the Pujehun District Council Hall, marking a crucial step in preparing the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) Budget.
The consultation brings together a diverse assembly of key regional stakeholders, including council officials, Paramount Chiefs, civil society organizations, Community Child Accountability Committees (CCACs), the Traders Union, government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and various development partners.
According to Mr. Sallieu Kamara, Assistant Director for the Fiscal Decentralization Division at the Ministry of Finance, the forum offers a structured platform to evaluate proposed programs and activities. He emphasized that the primary goal is aligning planned interventions with the core development priorities and needs of communities throughout the district.
Kamara added that the engagement aims to enhance coordination between the local council and its partners, ensuring that financial resources are efficiently targeted toward priority sectors that drive local growth.
Throughout the sessions, participants are scrutinizing budget proposals, pinpointing key development targets, and putting forward recommendations to strengthen the implementation of local initiatives.
The involvement of Paramount Chiefs and community leaders is considered pivotal to the process, as they offer direct insight into the specific demands and concerns of residents across the chiefdoms.
Foday K. Rogers, Chairman of the Pujehun District Council, noted that the meeting is integral to broader initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive planning, operational transparency, accountability, and strategic resource allocation during the medium-term budget preparation.
Rogers highlighted that the insights gathered from these discussions will directly guide the finalization of the Council's priority programs and budget allocation for the 2027–2029 MTEF cycle.
Council leadership has urged all attendees to participate actively and offer constructive advice, ensuring the finalized budget genuinely reflects the growth aspirations of the people of Pujehun District.
