Police Arrest Suspected Drug Carrier at Moala Checkpoint, Seize 13 Boxes of Tramadol

Personnel deployed at the Moala Checkpoint in Kenema Division have arrested a suspected drug carrier following a major interception carried out on Monday, 9th February 2026, at about 11:50 hours.
According to a police report, officers on routine checkpoint duty at the Said Checking Point intercepted one Hassan Jalloh of Ngeama Town, Tunkia Chiefdom, Kenema Division. A subsequent search conducted on the suspect led to the discovery of thirteen (13) boxes of Tramadol (225mg), which were allegedly concealed inside a white rice bag in his possession.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and escorted to the Kenema Police Station along with the recovered exhibits for further investigation.
Authorities at the Moala Checkpoint confirmed the arrest, stating that the operation was executed by personnel officially deployed to the checkpoint as part of ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of illegal and harmful substances within the division.

Under the leadership of Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kenema Police Division, the Sierra Leone Police has reiterated its commitment to intensifying checkpoint operations and surveillance activities aimed at combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the safety and well-being of the public.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
